This book is titled How does a Bone become a Fossil? The books setting is in the sea and on land. The book gives step by step information of how a bone becomes a fossil at the bottom of the sea. You also may wonder, How does that rock form? The book also shows how the rock forms by layers of mud around the bone. This book gives great information using text and pictures to show these processes. This book was very interesting and gave a lot of information about rocks and fossils, but it was easy to understand. Some of the text features are text boxes next to the pictures or diagrams. The text features also identify the pictures that the text is writing about on each page, so it is easy to go back and reread your favorite sections by using this as a tool. I thought the author did a nice job organizing this book.

I am here to talk about "How does a plant become oil?" By Linda Tagliaferro.
There is a microscopic (very tiny) plant that lives on the surface of the 4 oceans that are on Earth. This plant is called Plankton. Plankton drifts with the water and the waves. There are millions of living plankton in just a short piece of land. You just can't see them. These plankton have a substance called chlorophyll. This gives them the ability to use energy around them to make their own food. The main source of energy they use is the sun. The sun shines the most light at the top of the ocean, so that's why they float only on the surface. However, when they die, bacteria decomposes them and the remains of their bodies sink to the bottom of the ocean. After many years, that sand and mud slowly cover the dead bodies up, making them invisible to other animals. After MILLIONS of years, the mud and sand harden, and eventually, getting the name called sedimentary rock. This rock does not have to be above the Earth's crust. It can be miles deep into the ground. But with the pressure of the heavy rock above them, the remains start to heat, and after MILLIONS of years, the remaining energy escapes. Then it trickles up through the cracks in the rocks and creates what we now call petroleum or crude oil. In 1861, a fantastic invention called an oil well was invented and was used by drilling a deep hole into the ground and then dipping in in with a rope and a bucket. Did you know that ancient Egyptians used crude oil to preserve mummies? And did you know that today, crude oil is manufactured into many products such as wax, makeup products, plastic, sunglasses, even your own toothpaste, and polyester jackets? These are called petrochemicals. Fuel, oil, and coal are all called fossil fuels. These fossil fuels are limited and take millions of years to make. These fossil fuels are becoming rare, and we're using it all up so quickly! What can you do to help prevent this problem?
I liked how this author stated very interesting did you know facts and gave very well detailed paragraphs. The author had amazing photos and illustrations of what oil is made from. I would recommend this book to anybody who loves science.

The book "How does a Cloud become a Thunderstorm?" is about what happens to make a cloud transform into a thunderstorm. One of the important facts that was presented in this book was that when water is warmed by the sun the water vapor rises into the air. As the vapor cools, clouds are formed. Another interesting fact is that the scientific name for dark, ominous thunderclouds is cumulonimbus and the scientific name for nice, puffy clouds is cumulus.

I really liked the way the text was presented because there were bold words that could be found in the glossary in the back and there were visual aids that made it more interesting. Each page had an extra fact that accompanied a picture. All of these details made it easier and more fun to read. I really liked how the author organized the book because it was concise and reader friendly.

This book is about how sand turns into glass. Some facts I know about are that they have to put the sand in a furnace and heat the sand up to 1,500 degrees C. .That is almost eight times hotter than the temperature we use to cook most foods!
This extreme heat is what allows sand to turn into glass.Yes I liked the way the author presented the facts. Because it was easy to read.

The book I am recommending is one of the informational books. I read How Does an Earthquake become a Tsunami. On a scale from 1 to 10 I would give it a 7 because it gives very cool and interesting facts about how earthquakes form tsunamis. For example, it told us that a volcano can form a tsunami because when the volcano erupts, the lava flows into the ocean in large quantities. This lava pushes water out of the way and it makes the water go towards shore making a tsunami. Another great thing about the book is the informational text that is next to the picture. It gives a good summary about the paragraph. I like how the author organized the text and the pictures because at the end everything flowed together. For example the pictures gave us supporting facts and details. That is what I thought of this book.

This book is about how and what happens when a cloud becomes a thunderstorm. I learned that a cloud becomes a thunderstorm when the cloud hovers over water and gathers up evaporation. When it can’t hold any more water it starts to rain. I also learned that there are several types of lightning such as ball lightning, lightning bolts and a lot more. I loved the diagrams and pictures that they put into the book. I liked how the author organized everything so it’s easier to understand.

This book is about how a plant becomes oil. Some facts I know are that oil comes from plankton that died millions of years ago. When the plankton died, it would sit on the ocean floor. Sand and mud would cover it and this would turn into sedimentary rock. The weight of the rocks creates pressure and heat and turns plankton into petroleum. I learned a lot about how a plant becomes oil.

How does a volcano become a island. I think this book was stuff with information because it showed how a island can turn into a volcano. Some of the facts I lurned are that there was a under water volcanos can crack and leak this bad stuff out from it. What I really liked about this story is that it showed some really cool pictures of volcanos and islands. I liked how the author took some really cool pictures of how volcanos erupts and how under water volcanos erupt. And he wrote good information about how does a island become a volcanow

How does an earthquake become a tsunami is a very informational book.It is about earthquakes underwater becoming huge waves on the surface. These waves are known as a tsunami. One part I liked the best was when it showed a diagram of how a tsunami wave begins. I liked how the author organized this story because it made sense. You'll have to read this book to find out more!

How does a volcano become an island is
so cool! The main idea was mostly about
a volcanic island.A fact was that Mount
Everest,in Asia is the tallest mountain
in the world. But measured from its
bottom in the ocean,Mauna Kea,a volcano
in Hawaii, is taller than Everest!I saw
lots of cool pictures! They even took
a picture of a volcano erupting!But what
the answer was for the text is that some
islands formed by a volcanic eruptions
under the ocean. An other way it could
form that it could be that an under-
water mountain grows with every
volcanic eruptoin. After millions of years,it may become a island. It has lots of facts!Hope you read it to!

This book is about how does sand become a glass.
A fact I know is that to make glass, workers shovel the sandy mixtur into a furnace. The furnace heats the ingredients to about 1,5000'C(2,700'F).
I liked the way the author organized the fact and photographs because if it's not organized then no one will know that what is the book talking about.

I read the book How does a Volcano become an Island by Linda Tagliaferro. This book explains how volcanoes form and how eruptions from volcanoes sometimes make an island. The photos in book are really cool because they actually show volcanoes erupting and the different types of volcanoes. The photos are very detailed and important to the information on each page. I learned a little of little facts about volcanoes such as the fact that Mount Everest is not the tallest, but there is a volcano in Hawaii that is taller if you measure under sea level. Some text features that I found to be helpful were the ones labeling the photos on each page. I would recommend this book because it has a lot of interesting facts that you usually don't hear and might not know.

The title of this book's name is How does SAND become GLASS? This book tells you step by step how people make sand. I think this book is fabulous and " YOU " should read it. Anyways, can you believe that glass is made out of sand?!! To make glass, workers shovel the sandy mixture into a furnace. The furnace heats the ingredients to about 1,500 Celcius or 2,700 Fahrenhait! As the solid sandy mixture heats up,it melts into a soft, gooey liquid called molten glass. When that cools, it hardens to form solid glass. But, if you want to learn more amazing facts, you'll have to read the book yourself. What's cool about this book is that next to a paragraph is a picture describing the paragraph so you know exactly what their talking about. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes science and weird but true facts. Still, I think this book is perfect for almost everyone.

The book "How does a cloud become a thunderstorm" is a good book for someone that likes to learn about the wheather. It is about what a thuderstorm is, what kinds of clouds there are, and how a storm is made. I learned that clouds uslly begin with sunshine. I think that the picture mached the words really well. I think the author organized the it really well because put the facts from important to least important.

I read the book "How Does a Waterfall Become Electricity?" by Mike Graf. It is about what a waterfall is, waterwheels, water-power problems, and who uses water power. I learned that when all the snow melts one by one drops of water form a stream then it grows and runs faster, moving downhill. I think the author used a good choice of words like rapidly insted of quickly. yes, because they started with waterfalls and then went to electricty.

How does a cloud become a thunderstorm? I liked this book because it tells interesting facts and it has really cool pictures. The author that wrote this book was Mike Graf .When a cloud becomes full it releases precipitation. Precipitation is water falling as rain, hail, sleet, or snow. Snow is one of the four main types of precipitation. Clouds come in many shapes and sizes. It depends on many factors:how much water they contain, how high they are, and how much wind is in air. Cumulus clouds often look like puffy wisps of cotton. These are the clouds that come in many shapes- they might look like an object or an animal. The bottoms of these clouds are found less than 2,000 meters 6,500 feet off the ground. The clouds that create thunderstorms are very tall. They are full of unstable air. In some places these clouds can grow to over 15,000 meters 50,000 meters tall higher then Mount Everest. !When clouds are this high the air at the top of the cloud is much colder than the air at the bottom. This causes the air in the cloud to move around. Scientists are still learning about the causes of lighting. What they do know is that it starts from electrical charges in a storm. When lightning strikes the ground, it is more likely to hit tall objects such as trees and poles. Many trees that have been hit have lighting scars. Lightning can also strike a house most likely a roof. Lightning bolts can be more than 90 kilometers 60 miles long. When lightning strikes, it sends off not just light, but also sound thunder. Lightning and thunder always start at the same time. But light travels faster then sound. I hope you read this book too.

I am reading a non fiction book called how does a Earthquake become a Tsunami?
It is about when earthquakes hit the earths plates move together.I liked how the pictures showed different disasters that happened around the world. I would recommend this book to a friend because they could learn facts about earthquakes and tsunamis, and how they are formed. one fact is Tsunamis can also be the result of giant landslides or volcanic eruptions on land or underwater. In Indonesia there was earthquakeerupting and no one knew it was coming, a half hor after the under sea earthquake rocked the ocean for a huge tsunami sped to nearby Sumatra. The Tsunami killed tens of thousands of people. "How does it happen?" book series is really interesting.

This nonfiction book "How Does a Bone Become a Fossil?" is about what happens in the process of a bone turning into a fossil. One important fact is that a paleontologist is a person that studies how dinosaurs lived. Another fact that I found to be very interesting is that Utah is the dinosaur capital of the world. That is why many paleontologists live their lives there. I really liked the way the facts and pictures in this book were presented. The captions tell interesting facts that match up with the pictures to make it even easier to understand how the dinosaurs lived. One of the most impressive pictures was one that showed what looked like a bakery but was really a coprolite research center. Coprolite means dinosaur droppings that are petrified! It was a very interesting and informative book.
